Hi everyone! There are some major changes going down at Sequential State. I thought I would take a quick moment to explain what’s been happening during the first week of June.
I had the chance to do some long term planning for the site over the last 3 months. I’m making some big changes! I think all of the changes are good for the site moving forward. The changes you see below are part (but not all) of that long term planning.
New Website Hosting
This week marks a new step our journey at Sequential State. Over the last week, I’ve moved the entire site from its original tumblr platform to WordPress.
Moving to WordPress is an important step for a few reasons:
- It allows me to have more control over the website.
- It lets me manage posts and other parts of the site better.
- It safeguards Sequential State in the instance of Tumblr failure.
I’ve been concerned with the lifespan of Tumblr since it was purchased by Yahoo. I’ve set up the new site so that it will continue to crossfeed into tumblr. Readers who have accessed my writing through the tumblr feed will not notice much of a change. While this change is good, there are some issues that will crop up. Specifically, some of the links on the tumblr blog (http://sequentialstate.tumblr.com) will no longer work. Also, features that exist only on the tumblr site will no longer be updated.
New Theme
Readers who access the site from www.sequentialstate.com will notice quite a few changes and upgrades. The site will hopefully be cleaner, easier to use, and has a few more bells and whistles. If you have any problems with the site or have any feedback on ways that it can work better, please contact me at alex (at) sequentialstate (dot) com.
Open for Business – The Sequential State Shop
Because I’m using a new hosting platform, I have the ability to run a storefront! Not much is in there at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled!
